As is my want here’s the ongoing stats for the hometown team, not that 2 weeks proves much.

Hitting (Note stats will be current)

Right now Hinskie is a monster pinch hitter, Drew and Ortiz are as advertised, Lugo is 2nd on the team for average and Youk is pulling his weight.

Don’t listen to the naysayers, Wonderboy (Pedroia) has a .367 obp 🙂

Varitek is dissapointing.

Manny, Crisp and Pena are non existent 😦

The take away is probably that should Manny and Pena return to career norms, and crisp learn how to get on, the blowout rates can only go up 🙂

Pitching: (Note stats will be current)

Yes I’m using WHIP for want of a better metric 🙂

If you took sub 1.0 whip as exceptional, and 1.4 as league average, then:
1) Almost the entire relief corps are amazing to this point, elephant stamps all around, with the Pope (Papelbon perfect).
2) Beckett, Wakefield, Matsuzaka and Schilling (in that order) are all better than league average and combine for 70% of our total innings huzzah!.
3) Timlin, Romero, Pinerio and Tavarez are skuffing it but only represent 1/6th of the total innings.

Player (IP, ERA WHIP BAA )
Jonathan Papelbon (3.1 0.00 0.00 .000)
Kyle Snyder (2.1 3.86 0.43 .125)
Hideki Okajima (4.2 1.93 0.64 .125)
Josh Beckett (12.0 1.50 0.67 .100)

Tim Wakefield (13.0 1.38 0.92 .170)
